At Windance Farms, we have been importing, breeding and raising Maremmas for over 25 years. We breed from only the best working dogs who are outstanding in temperament and guarding style. We breed to the breed standard and only choose breeders who have healthy strong bloodlines and are exceptional in what they do.

We offer puppies to adult fully trained working and companion Maremmas.

I offer phone and email consultations and re-shaping and training for problem livestock guardian dogs. Training aids are available, from my manual to training classes here at my farm or at yours.

About Us

Tom and Jackie Church began Windance Farms in 1998. This farm is located in the beautiful Thousand Island Region of New York State. They had four beautiful children together and they were raised on the farm. Tom passed away in 2018 from cancer.

Jackie Church is the trainer at Windance Farms. She has extensive experience in handling and training dogs who are aggressive and who do not understand their jobs. Her specialty is working with livestock guardian dogs. She has re-shaped hundreds of livestock guardian dogs who did not know their jobs and thus were deemed failures. Many were doomed to death, but Jackie took them onto her farm and showed them the right and true way. Giving them the knowledge they needed to be the successful guardians they were bred to be.

Jackie imports Italian Maremmas from the very best old working style Maremmas. She breeds only the best and sells puppies to fully trained livestock guardian dogs. She also offers therapy dogs and companion Maremmas. She chooses the best dog for your needs.

Jackie has been featured in several books, magazines and television. This includes Hobby Farm magazine, My Pet Chicken Handbook by Lissa Lucas & Traci Torres, a children's book called The ABC's of Dogs Part 3 by Scott Alexander.

Jackie Church is the author of Livestock Guardian Dog Training Manual This manual answers questions that first time to the seasoned owner of livestock guardians have. The manual is clear, concise and direct. It is an easy read that helps you have success with your new (or old) working livestock guardian dog.

Fully trained working Maremmas who are exceptional. Experienced with livestock birthing, newborns, working alone, with another dog, commands, loves family, calm, effective - beautiful.

Started working Maremmas: They are fully trained to work successfully with adult livestock.

Exposed working Maremmas: These dogs are five months old and have a true firm, loving foundation who know their place in the family unit, have worked and lived with stock since five weeks of age, know and are using the commands, walks well on a leash.

Puppies: Leave the farm at 12 weeks. Calm, never allowed to mouth, bite or jump. Come when called, walk on a leash, living and working with stock since five weeks. Handled and loved by family and children.

Full breeder support from day one until the last day. Jackie will ensure you have success and will be there when you need her.

Phone and email consultation: Mentoring and guidance. Straight forward with steps to help you achieve success. From dogs who chase the stock, to attacking stock, aggression towards owner, family or stock, not respecting fences. Adding in a new dog? Set up a half hour consultation or one hour so that you know you will have success.
